CR CalculatorDetailed monster creation tables in 2014 DMGRemoved No full CR calculator. Minor alteration guidance only; no build-from-scratch system.
Compatibility Notes Both
The 2024 rules are broadly backward compatible with 2014 content. Old adventures and modules remain usable with minor conversion. However, mixing 2014 and 2024 character options at the same table creates power-level mismatches. Sourcebook content (Xanathar's, Tasha's) may need conversion, particularly around species/background restructuring. The Artificer has no 2024 update. WotC recommends tables commit to one ruleset rather than mixing per-player. All future official publications use 2024 rules.
